Stepping back a bit

I'm going to step away from DeviantArt for about a month. I'll do the groundhog thing, come back at the end of that month for a look around. In the extremely likely event that DA has ignored the tsunami of complaints, I won't come back.
That probability makes me sad, because there are several artists here whose material I enjoy. On the other hand, DA has made the site difficult and confusing to navigate. For example, I had to hunt for the way to make this journal entry. Didn't have to do that before. Adding to the issue, loading is noticeably slower. If DA persists in this unconcern for its members, I will return that lack of concern and take my hits and my money elsewhere.

Submitted a Ticket to DA

...and this is the response I got:
"Thanks for the inquiry. We've constantly monitored how people use the new version of the site (compared to the old version) to make sure that the new version performs better in terms of the major features and functions of the site (e.g things like deviation views, favorites, and comments). This is important to make sure your art and other content is being seen. We took our time to make sure we built a version of DeviantArt that the community continues to engage with well."
Don't you just love that?

Gah. DeviantArt is too much like Microsoft. I'm happy I disabled auto-renew for my Core.

No More Core for Me

I just disabled the auto-renew for my Core Membership. On May 20 DeviantArt is going to the Eclipse format, which I dislike. Whatever benefits it provides, it doesn't come close to countering the problems it gives me. Add in the fact that many, many people on the site vociferously dislike Eclipse, and the decision to shift to it moves from annoying to contemptible.
I think I'll stop posting my photos after they shove Eclipse down our collective throat. I don't think this will punish DA in any manner, not even symbolically. I just don't want to deal with Eclipse to post my pics.

Eclipse is Coming...Like it or Not

I got the notice that DeviantArt is going to retire the old site format in favor of Eclipse. I don't like the Eclipse format. Apparently I'm not alone in this, but they're doing it anyway.

The main thing I do on DA is check out the images in my Deviation Stacks, and Eclipse makes it inconvenient to do that. In fact it took me about five minutes to fumble around and find out how to even do that on the Eclipse format. I'm going to cancel my Core Membership. No point in paying them for taking away something I like.

As of May the 21st, DeviantART will be deleting ALL DA accounts. Not the plz accounts though. But just all name-wasted accounts, or accounts that we think are fake, or that are useless. We are doing this to prevent something that could possibly happen in the future.
If we find this message on your DeviantID, journal, etc. We will know that you are not a fake.
